Swamps, Septembers & Spirits

Swamps, Septembers & Spirits

I can’t believe there was a point in my life where I didn’t have a job. It’s actually nuts. Being in college seems like a distant fantasy. I truly can’t believe there was a stint in my life where I paid (well, my mom & dad paid… thank you mom & dad) to go to classes for 5 days a week, some semesters 4, from 9am to 3pm.

And let me just say… I was SWAMPED. I really didn’t think it could get busier than that. Rolling out of bed at like 845am, sprinting to the dining hall in a disgusting outfit, grabbing a to-go muffin, apple & coffee, to then spend the next hour and 20 minutes attempting to engage & listen to a lecture about economic or political theory, toggling between taking notes in Google docs & scrolling Twitter.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I am able to justify this egregious amount of time on twitter by convincing myself that it is a networking tool. So I’m basically working. Find a new slant.

Anyways, we are in late September now. Not sure how that happened. Time is crazy. I’m almost 30. What is happening.

With that being said, we’re approaching Halloween, & then… Thanksgiving aka BFCM. That’s Black Friday / Cyber Monday for those unfamiliar. The most important 2 days in all of online shopping. Ecomm’s Superbowl.

Does anyone else operate their mental calendars by referencing whatever holiday is up next? I use holiday loosely since I just said Halloween. BTW, I can’t believe Halloween isn’t a federal holiday.

Like, President’s Day is more of a holiday than Halloween?! Mind fuck.

Anyways, it’s time to start thinking about out a Halloween costume. Welcome back to week 49 of Trust Fun. Tim Wakefield week. Rest in Peace to the greatest knuckleballer to ever live.

Spirit Halloween Story

Funny to think where we all bought our costumes before Amazon existed. Now of course, you can order on October 30th and get it the next damn day. We’re all such shopping procrastinators thanks to Amazon. Back in my day, you had to actually prepare early for Halloween. Because otherwise, the Spirit Halloween that recently overtook the AC Moore would run out of the blue Power Rangers suit & you would have to get the green one.

Let’s quickly dive into the most iconic retail story ever… Spirit Halloween. Spirit Halloween stores are known for “possessing” abandoned store fronts for the Halloween season and vanishing without a trace, making it a popular online meme whenever something shuts down.

Some stats:

This pop-up powerhouse is estimated to pull in over $500 million in sales every single Halloween season. Let that sink in—half a billion bucks for a business that’s only open for about two months out of the year.

It takes nine to 11 days for a Spirit Halloween store to go through the opening process.

Americans spend approx. $14 billion dollars on Halloween every year.

Amazon’s Necessary Evil

Well, there’s no doubt Amazon has made an impact on Spirit’s sales. Or has it?

Spirit has clearly adapted. So why haven’t you. At the end of the day, Amazon control e-commerce. 60% of all online shopping takes place on Amazon. If you’re not on Amazon, you’re missing out. It is what it is.

It’s not brand deteriorating.

Why? We buy Apple products on Amazon.

It’s not cannibalizing. Why? People are searching your brand there & then buying whoever is bidding on your terms. Probably an Amazon Basic.

It works because it’s easy for customers. Stop holding out. Be easy. Launch Amazon. We did. And it’s working.

And when you do launch Amazon, use eAccountable, cuz you most likely don’t have the time or expertise to scale it the way the folks at eAccountable can.

Their team are absolute weapons at building Amazon store fronts, crushing PPC sales & turning your brand into a winner on Jeff Bezos’ website.

A necessary evil, Amazon can be a pain in the butt. Let the experts at eAccountable bear that burden for you. They’re some of the best to do it.

They manage over $200 million in Amazon store revenue. That’s almost half a Spirit Halloween.

Thanks for reading everyone. Hopefully you learned something today. Reply with what you’re being for Halloween I need ideas.
