Huge Host Broadcast Effort at UEFA Champions League Final
The UEFA Champions League Final - the zenith of professional club football in Europe - takes to the pitch on Saturday as Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund battle for soccer supremacy.
Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe’s TNT Sports is the host broadcaster for the big match and has filled London's Wembley Stadium with 43 match-coverage cameras, including seven super slow mos, a pair of high-speeds, a four-point cabled aerial camera, a helicopter, jib and pole cameras behind each net, and two on-pitch Steadicams.
David Moss , TNT Sports' Head of Football says that this UCL Final "will be the biggest single sports event that TNT Sports has done as a host broadcaster."
EMG is the technical provider. The match will be produced in UHD-HDR 1080p50 HLG. 杜比实验室 surround sound is on the HD feed while Dolby Atmos will be available on the UHD feed.
In the United States, CBS Sports will broadcast live match coverage. The network's live pre-match, halftime, and post-match show, UEFA Champions League Today, will be pitch side at Wembley.
Women's College World Series Gets Royal Treatment By ESPN
The NCAA Women's College World Series is underway in Oklahoma City and ESPN is on site to produce it all.
Production tech highlights include a live drone, a two-point cable camera system extending from the top of the press box down the left-field line, an on-field handheld shooting in shallow depth-of-field, a railcam along the outfield wall (from LF to CF), and UmpCam.
ESPN's SVP, Production Meg Aronowitz heads up the effort that includes a studio set on-site at Devon Park.

The league's U.S. production partner Raycom Sports put on a big show for the inaugural season's dramatic conclusion, most notably partnering with Sky Candy Studios to deliver live drone coverage inside the arena. With full access to the ice during live gameplay, the drone offered a level of access rarely seen on a live sports broadcast.
Raycom Sports VP of Engineering and Technology Operations Bill Stafford and Sky Candy Studios Founder and Chief Operator Michael Welsh sat down with our Jason Dachman to offer an inside look at how the partnership came about, what the live drone adds to the broadcast, and how they dealt with the myriad logistical challenges.
Scripps Spelling Bee's Dramatic "Spell-Off"
Boy, did the Scripps Spelling Bee deliver the drama on Thursday as, for just the second time in the event's storied history, the finals came down to a "spell-off."
The four-day event was produced for The E.W. Scripps Company -owned Ion Television — its third year there since leaving a nearly 30-year broadcast partnership with ESPN.
The operation feels an awful lot like a major live sports production with elements like Dome Productions mobile units, Fletcher/ NEP Group, Inc. robo cams, PSSI Global Services, LLC remote satellite uplink, Fuze Technical Group LED walls, and more all on the scene at Gaylord Convention Center in National Harbor, MD.
“I think, as it relates to live television, it has the feeling and the sense of sports," says Scripps National Networks Head of Original Programming David Hudson . "It truly feels like it’s an Olympics sort of an event. I can’t think, from a competition standpoint, of anything else that’s televised that evokes the same emotions as watching sports.”
