Sustainable Mining in an AI driven world

The book “Sustainable Mining in an AI driven world” is now available. The purpose of the book is twofold.

  1. To inspire and to provide a strategic direction for the successful transformation of a mining company towards a future-sustainable AI driven mining company.?The book discusses a vision for a futuristic mining organisation, provides a roadmap for leveraging technology in mining, and specifies drivers for sustainable mines.?

Part 1 covers evolving mining philosophy, a futuristic mining operating model, the importance of growing digital mining skill sets and future mining leadership, and the value of having a diversified talent pool in mining.?

Futuristic mining organisation

Part 2 is about mining in 2050 and beyond, the elements of a futuristic mining ecosystem, how to win at AI transformation in mining, mining start-ups and futuristic exploration.?

Technology evolving in mining

Part 3 deals with mining and the UN sustainable development goals, the circular economy, renewables in mining, climate change and mining, and the need for smart mining communities.??

A sustainable mine starts here

The content of this book is targeted at mining CXOs (CEO, CTO, COO, CIO, CDO, CFO), future mining leaders and operational leaders, digital mining experts, people who are transiting from operational roles to technical roles, digital mining enthusiasts, university graduates and undergraduates, sustainability experts, ESG leaders, and anyone who cares about sustainable principles in mining.

2. To encourage people to donate to charity. 100% of income from sales will be donated to organisations which are dedicated to

2.1 Eradicating child labour in mining

In Lualaba, Democratic Republic of Congo, it is estimated that 8,850 children are present in the artisanal sites of the Cobalt mines. The majority are girls (52%). In Haut-Katanga, the number of children working in the mines is estimated at 6,000 (50% girls) while the number of young people who are with their parents is estimated at 2,500 (48% women). About the author:

Kash is a futurist, an engineer, a mathematician, a consultant and a serial entrepreneur. He is the founder of Mine Connector and Elite Futurists. Prior to starting his businesses, Kash worked for McKinsey and Company in the Melbourne office, Australia.

Kash has a doctorate in mine planning and optimization from the University of Melbourne, Australia. During his PhD studies and post-doctoral work at the University, Kash developed algorithms for generating designs that maximize the net present value of a mining operation. That work provides the basis for software which assists mine planners to design more profitable mines. Kash was also a visiting scholar at the Colorado School of Mines, USA. Kash has been working on various mining projects which include due diligence, AI, operations, analytics, optimization and digital in different commodities around the globe. He is a keynote speaker and he provides mining leaders with strategic direction, and visionary leadership.

Kash’s vision is to engage, partner, and collaborate with mining leaders and decision makers to transform a mining business into a best-in-class, advanced digital and sustainable-enabled competency company. He constantly challenges current business models in mining companies to open possibilities for innovation and technology and to build a better future for the mining sector.
