Sustainable Graphite Value Chains

The energy transition not only requires the expansion of renewable energies, but also the development of storage capacities in order to sustainably store produced electrical energy efficiently.

In the mobility sector in particular, battery storage systems based on lithium-ion technology are used. To the largest extent,?these batteries consist of graphite. Depending on the application, the graphite quality requirements are very demanding: High charging capacities and short charging times of high-performance batteries are only possible if the graphite used is as round as possible and shows a very narrow particle size range.

The efficient adjustment of particle shape and particle size of different materials has always been a specialty of NEUMAN & ESSER Process Technology. NEA|SPHERE solves the problem of wasteful, energy-consuming graphite processing and enables our customers to bring large quantities of the material faster to the right quality – with significantly less extensive systems than before and digitally monitored. In this way, the sustainability of the battery technology is already improved during production processes.
