Costa Coffee Launches In-Store Recycling Trial with Podback
Costa Coffee has launched a five-month trial with Podback , the UK’s top coffee pod recycling service, to set up recycling points in 142 locations, including 133 Costa stores in Tesco supermarkets and nine in Swindon. Customers can drop off used coffee pods using free Podback recycling bags. This initiative will recycle aluminium into beverage cans and car parts, while plastic pods will become packaging crates. Experts, including Catherine David from WRAP , praise the trial for its potential to normalise coffee pod recycling across the industry.

Bain & Co. Report Economic Benefits of Sustainable Packaging
贝恩公司 's report shows sustainable packaging can boost company EBITDA by 4-6% through cost savings and growth. Despite this, only 25% of packaging professionals, according to Aura, feel their strategies are strong. With global waste set to rise 70% by 2050 (World Bank), companies like Unilever face pressure to reduce plastic waste. Unilever scaled back its goal to cut virgin plastic use, now aiming for a one-third reduction by 2026. Consumer demand for eco-friendly products is growing, and governments are tightening regulations while offering incentives. Supply chains are also pushing for sustainable solutions to reduce emissions.
