1. Sustainable digitalization

The goal of sustainable digitalization should always be long term focus on society, humanity and nature.

The "short-term" quick wins and easy “off-the-shelf” digitalization should never jeopardize the more valuable long-term sustainable goals. Digital sustainability is therefore not about implementing and configuring exiting products, services and platform to make organization “greener” or “climate” on paper positive in general audience. Using digitalization imports as eco-friendly and climate actions are self-delusion only serving interest of exiting monopolistic cloud actors. Digitalisation and sustainability transformations combinations fail when focusing on these short-term hype and trend themes without policies, missions and action on preserving foundations such local sustainable talents, software and hardware innovation creating transformation, local industrial clusters leading to more resource free product and large European mission programs like ESA, Airbus and Galileo delivering green eco, climate and green outcomes based on European values.?

The societal and industrial transformation should be based on long-term sustaining goals such as preserving economic resilience and balance, sustaining prosperity of jobs and wellbeing of people without losing the control on future roadmaps, capabilities which will reduce technology dependency to few unethical corporations, and governments actions to support sustaining competitiveness with education, reindustrialization, public procurement coordination programs and innovation missions.

The prerequisite for sustaining digital sovereignty and autonomy balancing digital innovation capabilities and reinstating industrialization resources, capabilities and intellectual capital are dependent on right education structures, sovereign innovation impact networks, strategic transformation programs, coordinated regional and union level alliances, and close collaboration to push forward regional and whole Europe’s industry and economy autonomy.?

?2. Circular digital economy

Europe is leading the world with the most ambitious renewal and reuse transformation goals to gain back lost economic competitiveness, resilience and power balance. The circular digital economy offers sustainable path to benefit every European union member from very large public sector investment by sharing the outcomes between regions, nations, governments and public sector. The circulation green eco-friendly software and systems engineering assets will to create new level of long-term productivity, innovativeness and value. The public money invested to digitalization should always lead to exponential gains for people, citizens, communities, societies, nations and economic union at the local level.

The path to circular digital economy should start from shared and joint development missions on the very standard basic digital services used by every European citizen, firm and public sector organization. These highly standardized technologies, such as communication, collaboration, storage and search, are today non-circular and vast economic burden on the economy, jobs and innovation. The new sovereign circular digital economic infrastructure allows Europe to boost innovation by creating new leadership agenda, by drafting “ball-park” architecture guiding all actors to commit in shared societal and economic sustainable vision, sharing of outcomes from developments, distribute development with partners accepting the new values and regulations, control development roadmaps to secure long-term autonomy and develop even more strategic architecting principles, sustainable software patterns and lead standardizations to even for more competitive Europe on long term in close collaboration with local industry, SME’s and start-ups .

The outcome of strategic coordination of circular digital economy and sustaining digital transformation is green software and green code. The foundations of green code are in new sovereign green code sharing hub to accelerating innovation, supporting coordinated collaboration networks, boosting bottom-up agile innovation, reducing single vendor technology dependencies and facilitate large scale software and cyber infrastructure development and operations (DevOps).?

3. Sustaining agile innovation (SAI) policy

The SAI policy aims at increasing awareness, knowledge and urgency on sustaining software and hardware development role on sovereign European future prosperity, independence, democratic freedom, security balance and fundamental values. The new local education and innovation capabilities will impact on more efficient, durable, repairable and robust services, networks, value-chains and to over-all sustainability dynamics. The coordinated and interoperable local sovereign digital infrastructure creates safer, easier to protect, more reliable, accepted security and predictable cyber infrastructure for future.?

The SAI policies are the foundation on which European digital sustainability fails or prospers. The new SAI polity is grounded on European values to protect sovereignty, autonomy, democracy, security and defence of fundamental values such as reconciliation of European nations, creation of joint tangible and intangible structures to protect Europe, building mutual missions, trust and understanding between members of the unions purpose as world leading innovator, and to control of arms industries by high authority to avoid monopolistic war, trade clashes or hostile exploitation of economy on EU members soil. Today digital monopolies are the “arms industry” making “digital war” real inside European boarders and thereby completely compromising the very foundations principles, values and grounds of the European Union.???

4. European Sustainable Software Agency (ESSA)

The European Sustainable Software Agency (ESSA) is Europe’s strategic gateway to sovereign and autonomous software infrastructure, industry, capabilities and innovation. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s sovereign software infrastructure, industry, capabilities and innovation. EESA is to ensure that all investment into software and systems continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world with European values. Today the uncoordinated economic potential in over 3000 milliard euros annually only leading to less sustaining future and loss of ecological sovereignty by few technology choices beyond European controls.

ESSA will change balance the very negative knowledge sustainability balance by creating opportunities for skilled, educated and innovative digital technology experts, professionals, engineers, researchers and scientists equally vital in process of transforming Europe to leading sustainable, circular and sovereign digital software economy region. ???

5. European ESSA mission

ESSA mission will focus on software and hardware to deliver economic prosperity, predictable security, and defence capabilities to Europe.

Sustaining digitalization and sustainable transformation are both creations of local software and hardware technologies to drive societal transformation toward economically resilient, ecologically preserving and more energy efficient society. This will be achieved by close collaboration of governments driving economic sustainability and sovereignty, innovative private sector engagement to new opportunity and coordination of public organizations actions to gain long-term climate and economic goal. The new bottom-up and local sustain digitalization creates new value producing opportunities with software and hardware. The sovereignty is very important in software sustainability since eco, sustainable and climate neutral transformation cannot be based on debt, outsourcing, purchasing and use of existing technology choices. The creation of new talent, communities, knowledge networks, education structure and innovation clusters drive societal developments at a global scale as well as locally within countries and regions. The new software sustainability policy will set a new standard for better informed humanity, augmented wellbeing and sustaining competitiveness globally.
