The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015, and agreed with 193 countries, as a universal call for better world and action to end poverty, improvement in education, health, and economic growth, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Theses SDGs, designed to end hunger, AIDS, and discrimination against women and girls, will be accomplished by bringing together their respective governments, business, media, institutions of higher education, and local NGOs to improve the lives and prospects of the people in their country by the year 2030, are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals (as given below) to transform our world:
Goal 1: No Poverty (Donate what you don’t use) - End poverty in all its form everywhere by 2030
Goal 2: Zero Hunger (Wastes less food and support local farmers) - End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being (Vaccinate your family) - Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4: Quality Education (Help educate the children in your community) - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong opportunities for all
Goal 5: General Equality (Empower women and girls and ensure their equal rights) - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation (Avoiding wasting water) - Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all because water, sanitation and hygiene are a human right
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy (Use only energy efficient appliances and light bulbs) -To ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy to all
Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth (Create job opportunities for youths) - Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (Fund projects that provide basic infrastructure) - Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Goal 10: Reduce Inequalities (Support the marginalized and disadvantaged) - Reduce inequalities within and among countries
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities (Walk or use public transport) - Make cities, human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production (Recycle paper, plastic, glass and aluminum) - Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Goal 13: Climate Action (Act now to stop global warming) - Taking urgent action to tackle climate change and its impact
Goal 14: Life Below Water (Avoid plastic bags to keep the ocean clean) - Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Goal 15: Life on Land (Plant a tree and help to protect the environment) - Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (Stand-up for human rights) - Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals (Lobby your governments to boost development financing) - Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development ?
