SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS, SUSTAINABLE FUTURE - BCG@DAVOS
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is holding its 50th annual gathering of global thought leaders, policy makers, corporate executives, investors, academics and other influencers in Davos, Switzerland, this week.
As a long standing partner of the WEF, BCG contributes to this year’s theme “Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World” in a variety of ways. I invite you to watch the videocast from BCG CEO Rich Lesser who discusses how today's leaders can position themselves for success in the 2020s by creating purpose-driven and sustainable organizations. At BCG we strongly believe the next decade will be marked by striking a balance between delivering value to shareholders and societal stakeholders - in line with BCG’s overall view on what it will take for companies to win the 2020s.
Sustainability, in particular climate change, is a very prominent aspect in this context. In collaboration with the WEF, BCG has published the report "The Net-Zero Challenge – Fast-Forward to Decisive Climate Action” which examines the current state of climate action by companies and governments around the world, and provides a clear set of recommendations going forward. In every meeting I attended this week in Davos – with individual executives, in group discussions and on panels - the challenges around climate change have been top-of-mind.
More and more companies are stepping up their activities to measure and reduce their carbon footprint, BCG is supporting many of them in defining their “climate strategy”, in making operational changes (e.g., in supply chains) to become more environmentally sustainable, and in assessing investments through a sustainability lens.
Below you find links to further BCG perspectives on climate change as well as some of the topics we're currently working on with the WEF.
CORPORATE ACTION FOR CLIMATE
In cooperation with the WEF we assess the state of global climate action through the lens of corporations, governments, and society by providing fact-based insights in The Net-Zero Challenge.
AI HAS ENTERED THE BUSINESS WORLD
We help organizations to strike the right partnerships between people and machines. The report How To Win with Artificial Intelligence brings together aspects of technology, people, processes and business strategy.
LEADING THROUGH CHANGE
We support business leaders to turn change into an opportunity. The Science of Organizational Change shows how five key components can help leaders to thrive with transformations and win the 2020s.
DATASHARING FOR MANUFACTURING
We are developing a framework to improve data exchange in manufacturing in collaboration with the WEF. The report Share to Gain: Unlocking Data Value in Manufacturing examines five main areas where data sharing can help improve manufacturing operations.
