Is sustainability your new ally in getting your dream job?

Green jobs [1] are growing at 8% annually, and an increasing number of green skills [2] are needed to meet today’s most urgent challenges regarding our society and the environment in which it evolves. However, green talents do not grow accordingly, which will soon lead to demand outpacing supply, if climate goals are to be reached. Therefore, we must close this gap as companies are undergoing substantial transformations and lack talents to support their operations. Moreover, demand for green skills also faces rapid expansion since green – and greening – jobs require more and more expertise, covering areas such as sustainable development, renewable energies, environmental policies and auditing, or pollution prevention, to name a few.

Accelerated by the pandemic, hiring of green talents has been boosting and is higher than overall hiring. In contrast to this observation, too few employees are moving into green or greening jobs, which demonstrates the need for more training and green(er) opportunities. We observe a pressing need to achieve greener jobs across all sectors and assist companies in this arduous process.

Another trend observed is the increasing availability of university degrees integrating sustainable matters and in-demand qualifications into their programs. It shows that generations to come will, for the most part, be trained and have acquired green skills by the end of their degrees. This statement also reflects the future demand for skilled workers that will likely intensify.

At Intysify, we develop training pathways to respond to this demand by further forming our consultants on substantial subjects of tomorrow. Continuous learning is an asset with which we want to empower our consultants.

According to Linkedin’s last Global Green Skills Report (2021), green skills are most sought-after in corporate services, manufacturing, and energy & mining sectors. The need for decarbonization and emissions reduction linked to set European binding targets - as well as soaring energy prices -have pushed companies to hire green talents and watch their sustainability profile, state and maturity. To respond to this, employers more and more seek workers proficient in setting sustainable business strategies, managing ecosystems or energy flows and sources, and complying with legal frameworks, among many other competences. Soft skills are also in the spotlight. Not only practical competences are essential, but personal capabilities are becoming a crucial asset. Critical thinking and analysis, problem-solving, or self-management are substantial attributes in today’s job market and in the quest toward climate objectives.

Facing these challenges, Intysify is determined to help fill the gap by providing skilled talents to support companies in their transition.
