Nele Burgund : My role involves developing and implementing strategies to minimize our environmental impact, promote social responsibility, and enhance overall sustainability practices within the organization.
momox : What has been your career path that led you to the position of Sustainability Manager?
Nele Burgund : I studied biology with a focus on ecology and marine sciences, followed by roles at GIZ and the Marine Stewardship Council, where I worked on sustainable fisheries, marine conservation, and developing sustainable purchasing policies for a variety of stakeholders. Driven by a desire for a more proactive role and personal development, I sought positions centered on developing sustainability strategies but also future-oriented topics like ESG. momox and its sustainable business model were an ideal fit for my aspirations.

momox : What motivated and inspired you to pursue a career focused on sustainability?
Nele Burgund : Always drawn to nature, a different career path never really crossed my mind. Opting for a career in sustainability undoubtedly allows me to play an active role in developing solutions for mitigating climate change, advocating for environmentally conscious choices, and fostering awareness of our responsibility to create a more equitable and habitable planet for both present and future generations.

Nele Burgund : It's crucial to have a genuine passion for your role and its potential contribution to a better world. Genuine passion naturally fuels motivation, commitment, and focus, enabling you to become an integral part of the team. Additionally, I suggest delving into the current sustainability issues within the industry you want to work in to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and potentially identify solutions.
