As we reach the halfway mark of 2024 and the end of another exciting quarter we are so excited to share with you what we have been up to in the past 3 months. Giving back - both to our surrounding communities as well as animals is one of our biggest passions and we are just getting started.
Vervet Monkey Sanctuary & Motaung Hospitality Training
- Motaung Hospitality Training is a chef training school situated in Acornhoek. They are training people from the community to be chefs and to be ready to work within the hospitality industry. We have connected them with The Vervet Monkey Sanctuary where they will send some of their graduates to work as interns - giving them first-hand experience working in a professional environment as well as experience working in a 100% vegan kitchen which is an invaluable and unique experience for the students.
Brand new Plant-Based Wellness Lodge
- We are so excited about a brand new, first-of-its-kind wellness lodge that will be opening soon. We have placed two candidates who are extremely aligned with the vision of this lodge but we still have some positions to fill! If you are interested in working at this lodge - please reach out to me directly at [email protected]
- We have a dedicated Whatsapp group to share all of our vegan job vacancies on! We are currently working with some of the biggest vegan organizations in South Africa. This includes sanctuaries, nonprofits as well as a brand new wellness concept lodge which will be serving only plant-based food which will be a first of its kind!
- We are creating a database of vegan candidates, please contact me directly at [email protected] with your CV and a little bit of information about yourself.

- As mentioned in our previous blog we have partnered with the Thornybush community and the Timbavati Foundation to offer workshops for the students they have put through hospitality school. Our second set of workshops was a huge success with the focus still being on getting the Student's work ready and we were also able to include other non-profits in the workshops such as Nourish & Wildshots who both do amazing work within their communities.
- We also had the first ‘Train the Trainer’ workshop which is vital in ensuring community upliftment and helping shape role models and leaders within the community. Eventually equipping them with the tools to host similar workshops at venues such as community centres.
- We have partnered with multiple farm sanctuaries in South Africa to assist them in sourcing a social media/PR manager for an exciting initiative to help bring in much-needed funds. Although this is not a paid role it would be a great experience for someone who is skilled in marketing and who really wants to make a difference in the lives of many animals. It's totally remote & open to people globally! You can apply directly HERE.
- We are also assisting Wildlife Rescue SA with looking for an International Fundraising Manager. This role is ideal for someone who's located in the USA, Europe, or Asia. It is 100% remote and does not require a full-time commitment. Find out more about this role and apply HERE
- Through Hayley's work as COO at Vegan Hospitality, they have launched a brand new Global Certification. This Certification by Vegan Hospitality is the highest standard in the industry, ensuring that your vegan guests have an experience that is equivalent in quality to what your traditional guests experience at your accommodation. If you are interested in getting your Hotel/Lodge certified feel free to reach out
