Wind Overtook Gas as the UK's Largest Source of Energy in 2024

The National Energy System Operator (NESO) has confirmed that wind accounted for 30% of the UK’s electricity generation in 2024. Overtaking gas for the first time, which accounted for 26.3%. Advancements in renewables have helped to reduce the carbon intensity of the UK’s electricity grid to a new record low of 125g of CO?e per kWh of electricity. Learn more below.
