?? EU Right to repair: Making repair easier and more appealing to consumers

The European Union Parliament adopted the directive on the so-called “right to repair” for consumers with 584 votes in favour, 3 against and 14 abstentions. The rules clarify the obligations for manufacturers to repair goods and encourage consumers to extend a product’s lifecycle through repair.?Read more?

?? Airlines lobby against EU plan to monitor non-CO2 emissions from flights

Airlines have hit back against EU plans to monitor contrails from aircraft, claiming too little is known about their climate impact to regulate them. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says it’s too soon to implement regulations as there are still “gaps” in scientific knowledge about their impact. New EU regulations will see airlines required to measure and report non-CO2 emissions from flights from January 2025. Read more

?? Proposed Basel Convention changes threaten textile circularity efforts

In a recent joint statement. the governments of Denmark. France and Sweden have urged the European Commission to put forward a draft Council Decision on a common EU proposal to subject textile waste to stricter control mechanisms under the Basel Convention. In a position paper, EuRIC Textiles, the textile reuse and recycling branch of the European Recycling Industries· Confederation, has expressed concern over this approach. Read more

?? Microsoft signs its biggest renewable energy contract yet

微软 will almost double its renewable energy capacity through a five-year deal with Brookfield Asset Management and Brookfield Renewable that will add more than 10.5 gigawatts of solar, wind and other “carbon-free” energy sources in Europe and the U.S. The value of the contract is estimated at more than $10 billion according to news reports. ?? Starbucks joins Podback’s coffee pod recycling scheme

星巴克 has partnered with Podback to collect used Starbucks At Home coffee pods from drop-off points or at kerbside, recycling them into beverage cans, supermarket crates, and more. Consumers can now fill a bag with used coffee pods at home, and then take them to one of 6,500 Yodel drop-off points across the UK. Podback says that all postage to return pods is free of charge.
