The world’s biggest climate meeting #COP28 just concluded in Dubai. Negotiators from around the world worked overtime to deliver a new plan for addressing the mounting crisis posed by human-caused climate change. Nations reached an agreement to fund assistance for those most impacted by climate change (loss and damage) and also to “transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems.” Despite important progress, COP28 fell short of delivering the decisive action on climate change that science says is needed. ?? COP28 agreement signals “Beginning of the End” of the fossil fuel era

Negotiators from nearly 200 Parties came to a decision on the world’s first ‘global stocktake’ to ratchet up climate action before the end of the decade – with the overarching aim to keep the global temperature limit of 1.5°C within reach. The stocktake calls on Parties to take actions towards achieving, at a global scale, a tripling of renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency improvements by 2030. Read more

?? Bacardi cuts carbon footprint of glass bottle production for spirits industry

Bacardi has successfully completed the “world’s first” commercial production of a glass spirits bottle fueled by hydrogen in a trial that took place earlier this month. In collaboration with glassmaker Steklarna Hrastnik d.o.o. , their new technology powered a glass furnace with hydrogen as its primary energy source and in doing so reports to have cut the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions typically produced as a byproduct of glass bottle production. ?? WestRock provides paperboard carrier for Coca-Cola multipacks

Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages will replace plastic rings for its multipack bottled beverages with WestRock Company ’s paperboard carrier and aspires to cut an annual 200,000 pounds of plastic from its footprint. Read more
