?? EU Council set to begin talks on revision of waste framework directive for textile
The European Council has adopted its position, termed the 'general approach,' on the targeted revision of the Waste Framework Directive, focusing primarily on food and textile waste. The directive for the textile sector, in effect since 2008, mandates that member states ensure the separate collection of textiles for re-use, preparation for re-use, and recycling by 1 January 2025. Under the new general approach, the Commission will have specific targets for waste prevention, collection, and recycling of textiles by the end of 2028. Read more

The first Extended Producer Responsibility law in the U.S., requiring packaging producers to contribute to the costs of recycling their materials, takes effect in Oregon on July 1, 2025.?In the coming years multiple states will implement such regulations.
