???Paper can be recycled 25 times without loss of quality! A research conducted by the Technical University of Darmstadt (DE) was carried out in response to the decreasing amount of fresh paper fiber that is added in the recycling cycle.?Previously, a rough estimate was always made that paper could be recycled four to seven times.?Since graphic paper made from fresh fiber was used less and less and the production of corrugated board increased, there is a shortage of waste paper.?By being able to recycle considerably more, the old paper serves as a raw material for new paper;?it stays in the loop. ??France has become the first European country to ban adverts for fossil fuels under a new climate law. Announced on 22 August, the legislation prohibits advertising for all energy products related to fossil fuels such as petrol products, energy from the combustion of coal mining and hydrogen-containing carbons. ?? Climate activists glued to a sculpture in Vatican Museum! More and more climate activists are gluing themselves to important artworks to bring attention to their cause. The most recent case was last week, when three Italian activists from the group Last Generation glued their hands to the base of Laoco?n and His Sons, an ancient sculpture in the Vatican Museum. ???With a recycling plan that aims to solve the rubble trouble, Riyadh is set to get a citywide?recycling?plan to tackle more than 20 million tons of building rubble on vacant plots while turning household?waste?into compost. ?Demolition waste will be removed from sites and residents will be encouraged to start separating their waste for recycling into two bins instead of one. The aim will be to recycle 81 percent of the 3.4 million tons of waste produced in the capital each year. Read more
?? Researchers found that 27 pounds of?waste?is produced from just one operation in a hospital in Nijmegen! According to research agency Gupta Strategists, the healthcare sector is expected account for 7% of the?carbon footprint?of the Netherlands. With?healthcare?becoming a bigger problem in terms of sustainability, hospitals and other health institutions have concluded two national agreements with each other in recent years: the green deals of care. The sector is therefore on the move, and talks are underway about a third version, due in October, that may impose consequences for not complying with the agreements. Read more
??California could be hit by a mega flood in the future! A new study published in the journal Sciences Advances state that climate change has doubled the chances of an event “capable of producing catastrophic flooding” occurring in California. They predict that such an event could occur in the next four decades if all factors remain constant, or if the present trajectory is upheld.?Read more
