??Dutch farmers and fishermen block roads to protest new emissions rules. They are angered by government plans that may require them to use less fertilizer and reduce livestock. Amsterdam's Schiphol airport?and KLM, the Dutch arm of Air France, advised travellers to use public transport, rather than cars, to reach the airport, as farmers' activist groups said on social media they planned to use tractors to block roads. ??California recycling overhaul is now law! California’s printed paper and packaging extended producer responsibility bill passed the state Senate unanimously and was signed into law, just before the deadline to pull a plastic-tax measure from November’s state ballot. ?This bill will create a producer responsibility organization (PRO) to run a collection and recycling program with state oversight, establishing a form of extended producer responsibility (EPR) for printed paper and packaging. Researchers at the American Chemical Society have created a light-activated robot resembling a fish that can swim around quickly, collecting microplastics from the water. With microplastics now found everywhere on the earth, the robot might be instrumental in measuring microplastic concentrations. Read more
