Clean Cargo 2023 data revealed that Arkas Line successfully reduced its CO2 emissions by 25.38%

Arkas Line has been a member of Clean Cargo since?2013, a leading initiative in reducing global emissions in container transportation. The 2023 carrier emission data was announced in March.

Despite an increase in the number of operated ships compared to the previous year, Arkas Line successfully reduced its emissions by?3.87%?through operational improvements.?As a result, there was a?25.38% improvement?in total CO2 emissions compared to the base year of?2011.

Arkas Line has started Sustainability Webinars in its Overseas Offices!

With the aim of spreading sustainability training to all Arkas Maritime Group employees, the sustainability webinars completed in Turkey offices in 2023 will be extended for overseas offices in March 2024 in collaboration with the Sustainability Directorate and Arkas Academy.

Following the webinars, online trainings will continue to be provided through the Arkas Academy GlobAlive platform. Through these trainings, Arkas Line aims to increase sustainability awareness among its employees.

Arkas Line Meets University Students at Istanbul University Cerrahpa?a Sustainability Panel!

Prioritizing collaboration with universities, Arkas Line met with students at the sustainability event held at Istanbul University Cerrahpa?a at the end of February. Serra Tükel, Sustainability Director of Arkas Maritime Group, participated as a speaker at the panel held within the scope of Cerrahpa?a Sustainability Day (CSG’24).

While the challenges, goals, and inspiring practices of different sectors were discussed with the sustainability leaders of EnerjiSA, TAV Airports, Qnb Finansbank, and AGED Waste Paper Recyclers Association, Tükel presented Arkas Line’s steps, goals, and initiatives in sustainability.

The Economist’s 9th Annual Sustainability Week took place in London from March 4th to 6th

The?9th Annual Sustainability Week, organized by?The Economist in London, brought together top executives from leading companies across different industries alongside with the?Energy Transition Summit held for the first time this year.

Arkas Line also contributed to this inaugural Energy Transition Summit.?During closed workshops at the summit, discussions revolved around topics such as?“competition and collaboration,?CSRD regulations, and?decarbonization in heavy industry”, resulting in valuable recommendations.

Arkas Maritime Group carried out SWOT Analysis with the Strategy Workshop

Arkas Maritime Group Sustainability Directorate and Sustainability Consultant Team; organized the strategy workshop with the participation of?Arkas Maritime Group?Board members, CHRO and Corporate Communications department.

The aim of the workshop was to gain insight into Arkas Maritime Group’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in order to direct its sustainability efforts and set goals, and this analysis provided a road map for the group to take the right steps in the field of sustainability.
