In the offshore energy sector, technological advancements over the past 10-20 years have paved the way for the industry to extract more value from its existing assets.??
From advances in subsea boosting to ultra-long subsea tiebacks, the industry is able to access its resources far more economically and efficiently than ever before -- and with lower carbon intensity per barrel. Yet, there is still more value the industry can realize from the application of these technologies.?
In a recent interview with the Houston Business Journal, Mads Hjelmeland, CEO of SLB’s OneSubsea? joint venture, says it’s all about simplifying.??
“Simplification is absolutely key because I think it drives value for those marginal resources and the late-life extensions," he said. "And we have such a tremendous toolbox today of technologies, which really can address many of these more challenging business cases.”?
Read the full story to find out how SLB OneSubsea is making subsea processes more cost and emissions efficient.
Mangroves, which are a group of trees or shrubs found in tropical and subtropical regions, are fundamental for maintaining biodiversity and have the ability to capture and store large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.?
In Tabasco, Mexico, we’re helping to restore and protect inland mangroves. For the past two years, in collaboration with local stakeholders, we’ve planted nearly 90,000 mangroves seedlings and constructed nine community mangrove nurseries. We’ve also established workshops in schools and universities to empower local communities to better understand the importance of preserving mangroves and biodiversity.??
We are thrilled to continue this exciting journey!?

When we’re driving our car, we make important decisions about our journey based on our contextual environment.??
The same concept applies when we drill a well. Logging while drilling (LWD) provides formation evaluation data that helps drillers navigate the bit along the most productive path and avoid hazards. Until recently, a radioactive source was needed to provide accurate downhole measurements that make LWD possible.??
Today, many countries worldwide have restrictions on using a chemical radioactive source. This is where our recently introduced NovoSphere? sourceless formation evaluation LWD service comes into play.??
The NovoSphere service provides accurate formation density and porosity measurements for drilling without a chemical radioactive source, offering operators improved safety, increased efficiency, reduced environmental impact and enhanced decision-making regarding well placement and drilling optimization.??
We released our 2024 Sustainability Report, which highlights the significant progress we are making in our areas of focus: climate action, people and nature.??
Highlights from the report include:??
“Our Sustainability Report is a testament to the collective efforts of our entire company - from facilities and field operations to technology and customer-facing teams.”??
Sustainability is embedded in everything we do at SLB, and as SLB’s Mikki Corcoran puts it, it’s the efforts of our entire company that help us achieve our sustainable goals.??
