It is considered that sustainability is a competitive necessity for today’s companies. Hence, Environmental, Social and Governance or ESG factors have become a focus of concern in business management. Business entities have been embraced environmentally friendly practices and are focused on the reduction of their impact on the environment and efficient use of resources.
The transition that has taken place is also not solely regulatory in nature but has been informed by the consumers. The major finding of this research study is the fact that consumers give their support and patronage to those companies that share common, especially when it comes to environmental and social issues.
Incorporation of ESG factors also helps the companies in improving their image besides improving sustainability in the world and attracting consumers and investors who are sustainability-oriented. More and more companies are adopting challenging targets linked to climate change or environmental footprint, for instance getting carbon neutral or powering 100% by renewal energy.
