A Sustainable World
We are working towards raising awareness of, and engagement in, global sustainability issues and solutions.
Dear Friends,
We have prepared a condensed bulletin for you based on news, articles, and developments that recently took place around the globe about Sustainability.
Here’s what happened last week in our Sustainable World;
?Carbon Free Energy: At least one-fifth of the world's largest public companies have committed to net-zero targets and for many, the focus goes beyond their own emissions. Major organizations are in a prime position to innovate, finance and install the technology needed for the world to meet its net-zero emissions goals. Different companies play different roles, but they are unified in the belief that now is the moment to capitalize on that energy and act. Read more: https://bit.ly/3vsf8M3
?Sustainable Future: SE, a leading partner for global real assets, has completed the first close of a new EUR 100 million venture capital fund “Sustainable Future Ventures” (SFV). ?Solar Energy: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has announced that the capacity of its current projects with the private sector using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model has exceeded 4,000MW with the total investments hitting over AED40 billion ($11 billion). Dewa’s key projects using the IPP model include Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Hassyan Power Complex and Hassyan Desalination Plant, says its top official. ?Sustainable Food System: New York: A few years ago, sustainability might have focused on mitigating adverse environmental impacts, but today’s emerging brands put sustainability at the core, with products that make a net positive impact on issues like climate, waste, and building a more sustainable food system. Many leading companies are now turning to data-driven insights to ensure their supply chain, retail, marketing, and sales insights are aligned in support of their sustainability goals. ?Sustainable Industry: Compared to traditional, subtractive means of production, additive manufacturing seems like an obvious improvement in terms of lessening environmental impact. Rather than milling away material to create geometries, for instance, additive manufacturing (AM) adds only the material needed for the design and any required supports. Some 3D printing processes are support-free, and some are tuned to handle ever higher loads of refreshed/recycled materials, saving on even more material waste. Read more: https://bit.ly/3S9Cos2

?Sustainable Facility: Global food and beverage company Nestlé announced the opening of a new $340 million Nescafé coffee factory in Veracruz, Mexico, powered by clean energy and producing zero wastewater. The opening of the new plant follows the launch by Nestlé of a series of sustainability commitments for its Nescafé brand last year, including goals to achieve 100% responsibly sourced coffee by 2025, 100% recyclable or reusable packaging by 2025, alongside investments in climate-related actions across the supply chain to decrease environmental impact.
