??Renewable Sources: Kathmandu, PepsiCo, Inc. published its first Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Summary since the launch of PepsiCo Positive (pep+), a strategic end-to-end business transformation with sustainability and human capital at the center of how the company will create growth and value. The 2021 ESG Summary – an evolution from PepsiCo’s prior Sustainability Reports – highlights how the company is leveraging its brands, people and scale to chart a new course to drive positive action for the planet and people. ??Sustainable Development: The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published a supervisory briefing on sustainability risks and disclosures in the area of investment management. The aim of these types of supervisory briefings is to promote supervisory convergence such that the relevant regulatory requirements are applied consistently across the EU. Whilst in formal terms such briefings are neither binding nor subject to a “comply or explain” mechanism for NCAs, they nevertheless inform supervisory practice. Read more: https://bit.ly/3aGtFgd

??Net-Zero Carbon: Formula 1 has unveiled revised branding as part of its long-term push to become a more sustainable championship.The series announced in 2019 that it intends to be Net Zero Carbon by 2030 as part of its wider sustainability strategy. Read more: https://bit.ly/3OjaUwN

??Sustainable Agriculture: The UK has signed up to a global coalition working towards more sustainable food production.Environment Secretary George Eustice confirmed that the UK will join the Sustainable Productivity Growth Coalition (SPG) – an international group of countries, academic and research organizations, and trade bodies that aims to improve agricultural productivity in an environmentally sustainable way. ?Sustainable Supply Chain: HSBC Bank USA and apparel company PVH, the owner of fashion brands including Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, announced the launch of a sustainable supply chain finance program, providing funding to PVH’s suppliers based on their sustainability ratings.According to the companies, the launch marks the first supply chain financing program to be tied to both environmental and social objectives. ??Sustainable Living: Marking the country’s largest energy policy amendment in decades, Germany’s Federal Council has passed a series of laws approving a major increase in renewable energy development over the next several years, including a target for renewables to meet 80% of electricity demand in the country by 2030. The legislation forms a major part of the new German government’s clean energy strategy, which aims to boost the country’s efforts to address climate change, accelerating Germany’s phase-out of coal by several years and transitioning to an economy powered largely by renewable energy in order to reach a 2045 climate neutrality target. ??Sustainable Home: A start-up that is developing new techniques and materials for sustainable housing using ‘wonder material’ graphene, has begun a major initiative after securing nearly £200,000 of government funding. Manchester-based Vector Homes has been awarded a Smart Grant of £191,000 by Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency.The money will help fund a £275,000 research programme to develop graphene-enhanced recycled plastic formulations for residential construction. ?Sustainable Energy: Intel will invest $700 million in a lab in Oregon focused on researching heating, cooling, and water usage in data centers as part of its greenhouse gas reduction goals. Work on the 200,000-square-foot facility at the Jones Farm campus will begin this year and finish in late 2023, Intel says. In addition to research, the lab will be used to test and qualify Xeon and Optane data center products, Habana accelerators, and more. ??Sports Technology: Taking on sustainability is one of the major challenges adopted by motorsports. From sustainable development of Formula 1 vehicles to the implementation of the electric drive train for the Extreme E machine, McLaren Racing invited us to witness the unveiling of its latest livery for the Extreme E car and its Formula E vehicle, marking the team’s entry into the sustainable racing series. ??Sustainable Learning: Sustainable children’s wear brand Frugi has announced that it will fund the online Eco-Coordinator Training Programme, an initiative by the UK environmental initiative Eco-Schools that provides school teachers and nursery staff with free training. Previously, Eco-Schools funded training for more than 500 teachers and staff in the UK who applied for the online program, as per a joint release from Frugo and Eco-Schools. ??Sustainable Laundry: While it may be considered a chore, doing laundry is much more than that! There are so many reasons to appreciate doing the laundry. Laundering your clothes and bedding is a form of self-care (and caring for others). Clean laundry helps us feel comfortable, clean, and healthy. There are also plenty of people who don’t have access to clean laundry, so we try to not take it for granted!
