?Green IT Solutions: Over the next year, we expect to see businesses across the globe advance important sustainability policies and practices. In fact, according to a recent Morning Consult poll commissioned by IBM, 61% of global business leaders said that their businesses will be investing in sustainability programs and initiatives to meet their ESG goals in the next 12 months. Interestingly, the poll also found that among the top sustainability investments planned are energy-efficient computing and IT, with 30% of companies planning to invest in green IT solutions. ?Sustainability Finance: The facility, co-ordinated by Bank of America, Mizuho and SMBC Bank International is Standard Bank Group’s inaugural sustainability-linked loan. The margin on the loan is linked to Standard Bank’s performance against three sustainability key performance indicators (“KPIs”). The KPIs align with the Group’s sustainability strategy and relate to committed financing of renewable energy power plants and social projects in South Africa and across the continent, as well as employee diversity. The facility is structured as a two-year loan with an option for Standard Bank to elect to extend for a further year. Read more: https://bit.ly/3vOZuu8

?National Development: The World Bank approved a Development Policy Financing of $50 million, which will support the Republic of Congo’s reform efforts to improve governance, revenue mobilization and public financial management, creating the conditions for inclusive and sustainable growth in the country. This Development Policy Financing is the first in a programmatic series of three over the years 2022-2024, financed by the International Development Association (IDA) with the aim of putting the economy on the path of recovery in line with the Governments’ National Development Plan from 2022 to 2026. ?Green Finance: Egyptian financial firm Contact wants to promote sustainability with a new product dubbed “Green Finance.” According to a recent news release, the product will fund projects such as solar panels, irrigation systems, and greenhouses, as well as sustainable farming efforts. Green Finance lets consumers pay in installments – with payment plans of up to five years – with “monthly and quarterly repayment systems reflecting Contact’s understanding of agricultural activity and its cash flow cycle.”

?Sustainable Textile: As a part of the effort to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, Vietnam is encouraging developers to establish eco-industrial parks and transition from traditional to ecological ones. In July 2022, Vietnam National Strategy on Climate Change for 2050 was approved. The country aims to lower its greenhouse gas emissions by 43.5% by 2030 and achieve peak carbon emissions in 2035 and net zero by 2050. Read more: https://bit.ly/3Xb1Lv6

?Electricity Generating Window: Scientists in Switzerland have reached a new efficiency record for transparent solar cells, paving the way for electricity-generating windows that could help power our homes and devices. Also known as Gr?tzel cells, dye-sensitised solar cells (DSCs) are a type of low-cost solar cell that uses photosensitised dye attached to the surface of a semiconductor to convert visible light into energy. ?In-road Wireless EV: As reported by Businesswire, Germany's first-ever public wireless road project will use technology from a top supplier of wireless and in-road wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging for commercial and passenger EVs. The initiative will charge an electric bus that is traveling to the city. Electreon, the chosen supplier, is a major company that makes wireless charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs). ?Iron Air battery: A battery manufacturing company with plenty of high-profile financial backing said it has picked a site for its first factory that will build “iron-air” batteries. Form Energy touts its technology as a breakthrough for long-duration storage of solar and wind power. Form, which counts Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and British tycoon Richard Branson among its supporters, was founded in 2017 by veterans of the energy storage sector. The group said its mission was to create low-cost, multi-day energy storage systems. Company officials have said their iron-air battery can store electricity for as much as 100 hours.
