Sustainability

Last week I managed to find a spare hour to watch David Attenborough talk through his life, travelling the world, devoting his time to endangered species and our planet.

Six weeks ago I met with another David Abosch and Michael Hinde from cognition-cloud.com? to talk through their company views on ESG, Sustainability and their wish to create their own Sustainability Forum/Community, and meet up with other like minded people and combine their eclectic set of skills.

The event took place on Tuesday 21st March and was an incredible evening filled with Startup, ESG and Energy brains. Each company were allowed 15 minutes and just one slide to explain their offerings.

First to the stage, cognition-cloud.com? and their "Desktop as a Service" model. giving an insightful speech on re-purposing laptops and the need to extend the life of existing desktop hardware.

An eager second was James Palmer from metrikus.io? explaining how their software picks up data from a Building's IoT devices and dashboards the respective data to make their clients building space more cost efficient, energy efficient, and time efficient. Interesting facts on old and new Building challenges which they are solving for their clients.

Louise Bunting took up the reins next, founder of carbonnnts.com? with a wealth of experience around carbon Net solutions and helping companies develop a Sustainability strategy.

Louise gave us a deep dive into how her company can provide guidance on Sustainability Reporting Frameworks to deliver consistent data against a given set of criteria.

Third on stage was Paul Cranfield from https://www.vipadigital.com, a Datacenter consultancy, with a wealth of knowledge on evaluation of datacenters, their client's business objectives and helping those eager to optimise the efficiency of their existing Datacenter operations. He gave us some very interesting facts on Datacenter power capacity and demand with wonderful insights into the major cloud providers DC's.

Hannah Drake was next, founder and CEO of enerlytic.co.uk? who talked us through the company's passion for creating a cleaner and greener world by way of their informative energy platform.

Hannah's career working with energy companies has allowed Enerlytic to provide their clients with energy strategies with near real time analytic data.

Enerlytic also keep their clients up to date with all of the latest Energy industry and market news.

Steve Crick from https://www.greencommuteinitiative.uk with the penultimate pitch and he did not disappoint with a wonderful story about Green Commute's Social Enterprise Initiative to get commuters out of cars and onto?any kind of bike.

They promote with a dual purpose of improving both the individual’s health and wellbeing, as well as reducing the environmental impact of pollution and congestion from cars.?

And last but certainly not least an incredible startup story from Oliver Winks and Adam Newman who provided a thought provoking speech on their new software startup.

They have built a model for attaching a carbon cost to software builds.

We would also like to thank Jappy Takhar at https://www.comitfs.com for allowing us to use their exquisite Board room for our Sustainability Forum.

Excited for the next one

It was great to meet with like-minded individuals and talk about a subject matter that is absolutely critical to helping reduce our impact on the planet. The level of detail, experience and enthusiasm was there in bucket loads. Thanks to Ashley for getting the team together and I look forward to doing this all again.
