SUSSEX DRIVING AND OUR NEW PICNIC SERVICE
At South Downs Secure, we like to think we offer more than car storage. Our clients can rely on us to bring them value-added services, whether that’s from a third-party professional or something we can provide ourselves. With lockdown restrictions hopefully easing soon, we know more of you will be enjoying your vehicles. From the end of March, ‘Stay at Home’ will hopefully be replaced with ‘Stay Local’, and we are fortunate to have some wonderful Hampshire and Sussex driving routes on our doorstep! To help you enjoy your day behind the wheel, we’re launching a new picnic on pick-up service.
Sussex Driving and our New Picnic Service:
In this article, we thought we’d share some of our favourite Hampshire and Sussex driving routes.
- Follow the A272 from Wisborough Green to Winchester, and you won’t be disappointed. There’s no shortage of stunning scenery. Plus, the driving is some of the best the South East of England has to offer.
- The scenic route from Godalming to Chichester. The A283 winds down towards Petworth, then cut across Lurgashall and Lickfold to join up with the A286. This is a spectacular part of West Sussex and weaves through parts of the South Downs, navigating steep climbs, sweeping bends and gentle straights.
- Explore the smaller routes around ‘Hidden Hampshire’. Follow some great driving roads such as the A340 and B3051 from Sherbourne St John to Kingsclere. The B3051 continues with fine downland driving as it crosses the Portway Roman road, undulating and weaving towards the old town of Overton on the River Test.
If you’re looking for a lunch spot with a view, then here are a few of the look-out points that are a feast for the eyes!
- Close to our favourite motor circuit, Goodwood is The Trundle. With easy parking, you can climb to the top of the hill and enjoy views down to Chichester and beyond. On a clear day, you might even get a view of the Isle of Wight.
- Just a stone’s throw from our car storage facilities is the fabulous Queen Elizabeth Country Park, with plenty of parking. You can enjoy your picnic from the slopes of Butser Hill National Nature Reserve.
- Finally, why not climb to the highest point in the South Downs National Park, Black Down? Head to Haslemere, then follow the B2131, turn right up Haste Hill, follow onto Tennyson’s Lane and head south-west until you come to the main free NT car park (GU27 3BJ).
The Picnic:
Enjoy a specially selected picnic lunch, perfectly packed for you to take away and enjoy. Sandwiches, snacks, a sweet treat and a refreshing beverage!
If you’re a South Downs Secure car storage client, hoping to enjoy ‘staying local’ while still getting out and about when lockdown eases, call us to arrange your picnic on pick up!
PLEASE NOTE: We will only offer this service if government guidelines allow us to do so both legally and safely.
