A suspect was caught just minutes following a bank robbery in Carrollton Wednesday afternoon.
Michael Grant Godfrey, 22, was apprehended six minutes following the robbery at the Regions Bank on South Park Street. He was charged an hour later.
Carrollton police said a man entered the bank and gave the teller a vague note asking for money. The teller handed over $2,350 to the man who took back his note and left the building. The bank made a 911 call at 2:28 p.m. and police responded and apprehended Godfrey at 2:34 p.m.
Within minutes of officers arriving at the scene, police spotted a man on foot, on Kramer Street behind Regions, who fit the description given by a witness, except for his clothing, and approached him.
Investigators said Godfrey confessed, and that officers retrieved the money, note and a clothing change that was in a small backpack he was wearing. Godfrey was officially charged by 3:30 p.m.
