Surviving a traumatic confrontation

In one of my roles as a consultant in several areas of conflict I get to hear real life stories and situations from edged weapons attacks to muggings and sexual assaults. From consultations with survivors and casualties I observed a recurring theme.

For example, "I tried to defend, but I froze to the spot". "I thought that I was safe when out and about, I never thought I would be threatened with a knife and subsequently mugged". "I was struck by total fear when an intruder attacked me in my own home"

These are just a few examples of responses during my consultation. The world in general is not getting any safer and there is a need to be able to protect yourself and your loved ones physically and psychologically. The ability to protect is developed through realistic training including dynamic risk assessment, fear control, controlled aggression and a very important aspect "psychologically".

Most people within reason and limitation have the ability to strike or grab in an attempt to control an aggressor. This is fine if you just want to rely on luck and wing it, it's a different story when for example an aggressor, mugger or rapist are not compliant with your plan for protecting yourself. As I mentioned earlier, realistic training is the only way to achieve a state of situational awareness. Now there are many out there that are advertising self defence classes which I suppose can give some piece of mind but a word of warning, training in a nice padded area with no rough area or furniture isn't in my opinion reality. As in many industries there are rogues, cowboys people who haven't actually experienced what they are promoting saying that they have "the answer" I am not going to name these "so called experts" I don't need to.

Ask yourself, could I survive as serious attack? if you come up with the answer No! what I will say is if you want to have the ability to protect yourself and your loved ones?get in touch with Sphere for real, effective tested and applicable tactics and strategies.?
