Surviving Nazi Occupation: The First House Liberated on D-Day

In this special episode of the Jedburgh Podcast, we sit down with Arlette Gondree, owner of the historic Cafe Gondree in Normandy, France.

As the first house to be liberated during the D-Day invasion, Cafe Gondree holds a unique place in WWII history. Arlette shares her personal connection to the cafe, her family's experience providing intelligence on the Germans during the war, and the incredible story of the British glider operation that liberated Pegasus Bridge.

Dave Paddock of United States Army Special Operations Command also walks host Fran Racioppi through a detailed re-enactment of the British Army Glider assault to seize the critical Pegasus Bridge to allow the invasion forces to move inland from Juno, Sword and Gold beaches.
