We have seen some unparalleled and bizarre times
Even the ones who were sluggish in the process of self – evolution, have been forced to reflect upon themselves and their priorities in life. Uprising of the gig economy and WFH culture has compelled us to embark on a journey of self - realisation. Amidst all this chaos, I’ve managed to document some of my learnings that have become the milestones for many in current times.
Strengths and Weaknesses go hand in hand and it is substantially important to understand both these elements before you decide to do your personality make over in personal or professional life. This awareness can help you a lot in choosing the right career or making beneficial decisions in life; because if you are able to focus on what you do around your strengths, you have the chance to create something remarkable, while making it look effortless.
Enhancing strengths and accepting imperfections is a process that has to begin at a foundational level of self-exploration.
The idea of coming up with the things you're good -- and not so good at -- can seem daunting, but there are a few methods to try that can make the process a little easier. Either you can take online assessments with awareness building tools or simply divide the page into 2 columns and pen down at least 5 attributes, each pertaining to your Strengths and Weaknesses. It is an effective way to measure everything from how you manage conflict, to your learning style, to your team orientation etc.
Current times have tested the fabric of our DNA by stretching its limits and it is therefore important to understand yourself first, before we analyse others. Equally important as knowing your strengths, is knowing your weaknesses. Of course it is a tough call! Get feedback from your peers or bosses.
When assessing your skills, don't just think about those technical skills you've acquired; also consider your soft skills- abilities related to communication, leadership, collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, etc… In general, you should have a sense for what your weaknesses are around dealing with tasks, processes, relationships and communication.
Humans are indeed not perfect and it is natural to have weaknesses, so don’t be embarrassed at all and hesitate to write them down. What is important to remember is that everybody has some weaknesses that we have to keep in check. If you don’t, they will produce negative consequences. Don't heed to the old advice of working on your weaknesses but instead try to ACCEPT your imperfections and learn to manage them.
Constantly working on your weaknesses undermines your confidence
Being yourself seems like it would be an easy thing, right? But, if you have lived a life seeking the approval of others constantly, it’s not easy . You have to move past years of trying to appear this way in doing your best to avoid conflict and unpleasantness.
Evolving into a better version of yourself, takes time and practice...It's like improving any skill! By working from the inside out, you can explore yourself to the fullest thereby working on enhancing your strengths and accepting your imperfections towards a more positive self-concept.
