Surrounding yourself with good people matters

This weekend we took the YOUKNOW Technologies team away to do nothing but connect. We laughed, debated, ideated, jogged, cooked, went birdwatching, and got to know each other just that little bit better. It was amazing.

Having personally been with YOUKNOW for just over 2 years, it was incredibly rewarding to see how the balance of the new regime (we have team members who started two days before the trip!) and those who have been in the business for 5+ years gelled like we've all been working together for a lifetime.

The reason for that is simple: We hire great humans.

Finding the right people takes time, which over the past 2 decades of running businesses I've realised has its pros and cons. A pro is of course taking your time to really find those golden nuggets through the interviewing process, which oftentimes is more difficult than most people think, as there is A LOT of great talent out there. The cons of course is that sometimes while we're taking our time to ensure we have the right folks to offer a role, other companies are doing the same thing and hiring before we get a chance to. So yes, there have been some who have slipped through the proverbial cracks, but I still stand by our focus on taking our time to get the right people on board.

It's been a phenomenal two years of growth, being able to work beside some of the smartest, most dedicated, funny, caring, and ethical people I know.

I am better, because of the people I get to work with every day. I truly am grateful to be a part of this team, and ridiculously excited for what's to come.
