Surround yourself only with successful people! Really?
More than often self-help experts give advice that, if you want to improve yourself, you'd have to surround yourself with friends who are better than you. So you need to get rid of the friends who aren't.
I discussed this with my son, Bob, who was reading Brandon Burchard's book: “High-Performance Habits”. He doesn't give this advice. There is nothing against attracting people in your circle of friends who outperform you in many ways. Excellent. Learn from them.
Of course.
But letting down your friends who are in trouble, who don’t meet your level of development? Than…what kind of person are you?
Bob said: I'll never let down my friends. They were there when I needed them. When I was down and not performing, they were the ones lifting me up. And I'll be there when they need me.
And guess what, if we want to learn a lot, we can learn as much from high performers as from underperformers.
I'm very curious if there are people who'll let their friends down because they start becoming more successful in their careers. And, I'd love to hear stories from friends who stuck together and grew together.
