#SURREYDAY 2023

Today's the day! #SurreyDay an annual celebration of life in Surrey.??

From reports on BBC Radio Surrey, all of Surrey's attractions have been packed with visitors today. As counties go, we certainly have a very rich offering: open spaces (parks and waterways), historic locations, art & culture, towns for retail & leisure, artisan food and drink producers, and hospitality etc...

I met Mark Carter from BBC Radio Surrey and Chris Howard from VISIT SURREY COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY on the Coronation weekend when we were judging the DorKing Community Spirit Awards run by HelloDorking . We got talking about what we love about Surrey, and it got me to thinking beyond the obvious nature and green and leafy descriptions.??

Surrey Day is all about sharing 'what we love about Surrey', and this #SurreyDay 2023 I'd like to add an extra dimension. I'm thankful for all the people of Surrey that I've had the pleasure to have met and collaborated with.

From my days as a student studying in Surrey at Royal Holloway, to more recently raising my family here, and now to establishing my business YUnique Marketing Limited from a base in Surrey Heath and becoming part of the fabric of the local business community. I've met so many wonderful people and I wish to thank them for their support and community spirit.

Too many to mention everyone by name, but I've created this picture collage showing just some of the people and organisations in Surrey that have enriched me and been real highlights in my Surrey Business Life.

They say leading a business (especially a micro one) can be lonely - well I'm fortunate to say I've never felt that. I took a decision to do what I could to become part of the community and joined various groups participating in volunteering and mentoring alongside building my business and working on client projects. Everyone has been welcoming and generous. Yes there have been challenges in running a small enterprise but there's been a lot of smiles too coming from the sharing of experiences and successes. Celebrating new business openings and business anniversaries, hosting community fayres, organising Christmas lights in the village, raising funds for the Mayors charities, and enabling our local villages to become Dementia Friendly...

Aside from Surrey being a great place to live and raise a family, it's a great place to work and build business AND become part of a great business community.

Oh and did I mention Surrey is home to the UK's Top Town for Business 'Camberley'!

Known as being a bit of a cheerleader for Entrepreneurship & Marketing, I take special delight in flying the flag for SMEs. Over the years I've made many valuable business connections.
