The Surprising Solution to Employee Burnout

Today is the last day of celebrating women in March, but the focus on uplifting women shouldn't end here. After delivering the Befriend your Mind retreat for burnouts, it made me realize how vital it is to keep supporting women to find their own courage to voice their concerns.

Women still face many societal burdens, and with the health departments struggling to keep up with the numbers of tiredness and fatigue, I was reminded that if we don't change the way we approach our lives, the problem of burnout is only going to increase.

You see, these women reminded me that intersections are where much of the stress lies, which is why often one-size-fits-all models don’t work, especially in multicultural environments.

Here is a few reasons to reflect on why

  1. Professional and personal lives do blend and affect the way we attend to daily pressures, responsibilities, and decision-making.
  2. Diverse communities are very wary of being authentic at work. Words that are often told to them are like mindfulness, empathy, and authenticity feel cliché, and no one feels they really hold truth and trust, it feels very generalised and unheard. This only creates a greater worry to speak up because either feel shut down or they have to bear a negative cost.
  3. As the world struggles for peace and economic stability, it makes it even harder to just be authentic as everyone is concerned if their basic needs and desires are at risk, especially if speaking up may cost them.
  4. Polarized views, as women faced political backlash, women leaders resigned because of exhaustion, it has made an impact. You see, confidence always grows when the numbers grow, but when the numbers in representation stay low, so does morale.
  5. When trying to balance family and work responsibilities, priorities, and pressures, women often place themselves last. What most women don't realise until it's too late, that we have aggravated our body into early menopause and extreme fatigue (to name a few).
  6. Covid informed us we can work at home and at work Work, so there are opportunities to apply modern solutions that will help them balance their responsibilities, so that burn-out will stop rising, and also reduce the cost of burning out.

One of the key solutions is to start on increasing a genuine awareness around lifestyle management.

Befriend your Mind as a Sustainable Approach

Befriend your mind offers a solution towards Burn out. It's an Eastern method on how to look at our lifestyle and create a plan and strategy on how to manage your emotions, thoughts, and communication.

Now, I struggled for a long time with the cultural appropriation of yoga, mindfulness, and other types of Eastern modalities. Why? Because it would eliminate the powerful method on how to understand and trust ourselves. You see, Yoga exercises, and mindfulness has been positioned in a way as the main solutions, but it left out a crucial part , how to train the mind. In the east, the key has always been on how to balance our different energies. Speech, thought and emotions all require some form of energy. And how we spend it, either drains us or fills us.

Befriend your Mind approach can be a real added bonus for corporations community welfare, by implementing it in a bespoke way where employees

1. Have the safety to process their personal struggles.

2.Make changes which will optimize their performance at work.

3. Elevate their communication effectively, be more purposeful and focused.

4. More profoundly: strengthen their #resilience, their ability to face discomforts and uncertainty, to find other effective solutions.

5. Ability to engage with the complexities of the matrix of tech, gender, race, and cultural diversity.

It's also sustainable: think about it, if you strengthen your resilience, you are able to deal with adversity. And wisdom always triumphs knowledge.

Befriend your Mind Reminder

"Unusual yourself", it's the tenth reminder of the book #befriendurmind .

Take small steps to recognize and break free from habitual patterns that may be holding you back. How many times have heard that only to feel easy to say , hard to implement. As a previous addict to perfectionism, pretending like we know it all happens, but often it does not serve us. So how do we break from our usual way of being.

One way is to observe the quality of our assumptions. It's a powerful place to start. Sure, it's very confronting because for perfectionists, the idea of not getting it right may create anxiety. By observing these tiny moments where we assume and speed to react on it, just by recognising it, we can start to slow down our urge to be hard on ourselves for not “getting it right”. We give our thoughts some space to see things differently.

In a world that glorifies hustling and perfectionism, it's a high speed, and loves quick reactions. So this style of observation is an invitation offers the ability to embrace imperfections without self-judgments and that is how change really happens.

Also did you know that a relationship between perfectionism and burn out?

Feeling to do it alone, is stressful and overwhelming, i.e a lot of thinking energy spent and not enough rest to process. By breaking assumptions patterns, there is a possibility to make different decisions or even make space to delegate.

What are some small ways you "unusual yourself" and break perfectionist patterns?
