The Surprising Secret Of Small
Back when I was starting my business I hosted many in-person workshops.?
I'd use rehearsal studios here in the city and rent out a decent-sized room and one day after renting a room that would fit 20-30 people,l I had the experience that many new business owners have:?
Only two showed up.?
There were a few things that went through my mind when that happened and one of them was certainly canceling the workshop and refunding everyone and going home but something in me wouldn't let me do that so I pressed on.?
As the day went on, I realized that there was so much time to get to know these two participants and they also really got to know one another.?At the end of the workshop I even had them ask me about doing additional work which would not have happened had I not taken the time to go through the process with them.
?A few years later I was at a conference and the speaker made a statement that has always stuck with me.
He said:?Do things that don't scale.?
He talked about how when you had a small group you could be so much more hands-on than if you had 100 or 1000 people and it was absolutely true.?
It's for this reason that these days my masterminds usually don't go over eight participants and most of the events I host are smaller and intimate.?I want the time to really get to know people and to work with them.?
How about you??
Where are the elements of your business that don't scale??
How do you use the power of small in your own business??

1 年This was perfect timing! I had a booking for 6 women, Makeup for Headshots...to find that only two are now interested. I wanted to connect with the local women and they suggested, it might not be worth it for me. I said I was more than happy to come and get to know them and do even more than just a Camera Ready Touchup that was originally scheduled. Feeding my Word of Mouth followers always works the best for me. I'd rather someone else talk about me than me talk about me!
