No surprise. Collaboration Makes the Collaborative Economy Work.

When Roadie announced last January that UPS was an investor, my phone rang off the hook with questions. It’s no surprise – it was (and still is) the first time a stalwart of industry has invested in a sharing economy company. But with the shipping industry struggling to meet growing demand for same day, next day and out-of-the-box shipping options, it’s no wonder UPS wants to be part of the innovation that could one day disrupt its very industry. Looking back on it, I’ll bet Marriott wishes they had invested in Airbnb.

This week, we announced the next step in this exciting collaboration -- a new partnership with UPS Capital?. Now every delivery in the Roadie network (up to a value of $10,000) will be backed by the very same protection as parcels delivered by UPS. It’s a huge win for both senders and drivers in our community, and yet another example of how industry collaboration can be a win for everyone.

In the last 9 months, we’ve delivered thousands of Gigs of all shapes and sizes, from cupcakes to couches and everything in between. With a heftier parcel insurance policy, we’re giving our community even more peace of mind when they send high value items like bicycles, auto parts, antiques and art. So, UPS gets an insider view of our potentially disruptive shipping innovation and Roadie gets access to the trust and safety of the oldest and largest name in the shipping business.

Now that’s what I call collaboration.
