SurgiSTUD: Making an Impact at EBARS!

SurgiSTUD participated in the annual EBARS program, a comprehensive hip and knee course provided jointly by the Duke University Health System Department of Clinical Education and Professional Development and the Duke Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

The course often attracts some of the biggest names in the industry, including surgeons and medical device manufacturers. This year’s list of attendees had a chance to focus on innovation and surgical techniques in joint replacement surgery, which is the primary goal of EBARS.

Topics included robotics, revision surgery, management of periprosthetic fractures, and a host of other exciting topics pertinent to the field of hip and knee adult reconstructive surgery.?

The SurgiSTUD models were utilized in two areas. The first was our comprehensive knee model utilized to simulate the Kinematic Approach for a TKA.?Second, our comprehensive hip model was utilized for the Pneumatic Impaction Technique for Primary THA. Both models were well received and replicated the ideal anatomy.?The overall feedback included:

“Everyone liked the models more than the cadaver lab, way less mess and could get more people up close.”?

We’re glad to support the goals and mission of EBARS and the excellent physicians who help support their annual course.
