The latest way in which the Surface team are support customers and working with resellers was the recent Surface Edubites online seminar. These webinars run every 6 - 8 weeks (the next one is January) and allows the team to talk about Surface devices, and drill down on topics like A.I. and deployment on Surface.
The most recent session covered the three new devices which were launched in October, these being the Surface Go 4, Surface Laptop Go 3 and the rocking Surface Laptop Studio 2.
Surface Go 4 - as mentioned in my recent post Surface Go 4 still amazes me by what is packed in such a small and light footprint. The N200 processor mixed with 8gb of fast LPDDR5 ram and UFS storage means Go 4 is nippy and powerful and should easily be considered as a student 1-2-1 device.
Laptop Go 3 - for those looking for a more traditional clamshell device Laptop Go has it all. 12th gen Intel chipset, making use of the P & E cores with Windows 11 giving the user the best experience, 8 or 16gb of ram and SSD storage, all mixed in with a super slick design and Windows Hello on the power key. So, if you are doing a lot of typing, then this 12.4-inch touch screen device with Intel Iris XE graphics really is the right affordable choice.
Finally, the Surface Laptop Studio 2, the most amazing design of device, now comes with 13th gen chipset (being the first to feature a Neural Processing Unit on an Intel platform) Core I7 processor. Add to this up to 64 Gb of ram and a Gen4 SSD of up to 2TB then you have a real powerhouse device on your hands. I am looking forward to getting my hands on one of these, as the Nvidia RTX 4060 powering the 14.4-inch HDR screen makes this the ultimate device on the market now. Also of course as mentioned with its own NPU, lining you for smooth transient processing of Windows Studio Effects and many other A.I. services coming to Windows.

Don't just take my word for it, speak to your reseller who can help arrange evaluation units to let you have firsthand experience of the devices. Remember Surface devices and cloud first and therefore should be cloud deployed with Autopilot, managed with Intune, and authenticate with Entra ID (aka Azure AD) for the best user experience.
We then had a presentation for Khloe Quinn IT Director of Norwich School on the journey with Surface, since 2020. A compelling story of how Terry moved the school to a cloud first model and has reaped the benefits for teachers, students, and his own IT Team.
Unfortunately, Terry could not be with us in person as the school was just starting an ISI inspection, but Terry's recorded session about the journey drilled into Why Surface.
I am sure as we journey through the Edubites series then it will be possible to hear more from Terry as the Norwich School journey now focuses on 1-2-1 for students with Surface.
So, as we move to the next session which will focus on AI with Surface it promises to be an exciting 2024 in the world of Surface.
