Malaria is one of Africa’s deadliest killers with 95% of the 608,000 deaths that occur every year happening across Africa. Thankfully, a new Malaria vaccine has been developed, and after an incredibly promising pilot rollout, there will be a rollout in 12 countries across Africa starting this year.?

None of this would be possible however without having reliable cooling devices that will protect vaccines. Like most vaccines, the new malaria vaccine must be kept between 2°C and 8°C degrees constantly as exposing these vaccines to higher or lower temperatures will cause them to become unviable.?

Many countries across the world are subjected to unreliable and fluctuating power supply, which has a negative knock-on effect with regards to the safe conservation of vaccines. Without power, the fridge will begin to heat up and therefore cause the vaccines to no longer remain viable. But with SureChill, this headache is no longer a worry.?

Our technology harnesses the unique properties of water to guarantee cooling between 2°C and 8°C, even with no power input. This technology has been integrated into our medical refrigerators and enables them to function for up to 12 days without power.?

In September of 2023, we achieved the milestone of over 30,000 products sold globally in over 75 countries. These refrigerators have been storing vaccines, meaning that they have been able to safeguard the lives of 10 million children.?

As the years have progressed, we have acknowledged that vaccine refrigerators that are approved by the World Health Organization are known to be expensive, which is why we have been working towards creating a smaller and more affordable device. This has been achieved at the beginning of 2024 with the launch of our Pharma Fridge.?

The Pharma Fridge is our affordable alternative that is available in both a mains-powered and solar-powered context. It has been designed for more rural clinics and pharmacies that need to store temperature sensitive products such as insulin, alongside their vaccine refrigerators. Although not suitable for vaccine storage yet, we are working tirelessly to make this happen to ensure that cooling is available and accessible to everyone, regardless of where they are situated.?
