I was recently watching a World Cup cricket match and an advertisement really caught my attention.
The premise of the advertisement is that there is a Badminton player in a remote village who is practicing to become a better player. But then because of fewer facilities, the athlete can practice only in the daytime. She cannot practice in the nighttime when the Sun has set.
The Father immediately goes to the ground creating a wiring system and Voila she now has a provision to start practicing even when the sun has gone down.
No doubt this looks like a smart move and this comes from the concept of the 10,000 rule by Malcolm Gladwell. The basic premise of this is that once we spend approximately 10,000 hours on anything we will become a pro in that field.
There has been a lot of debate on how the number of hours has been reached. But in essence, all this rule says in a nutshell is that the more we practice a skill the better we get at it.

I do not dispute the logic and I really do believe that with practice you can get better at a particular skill for sure.
But this theory of continuous practice by burning out will work only to a certain extent. In order to be a real PRO you need to use the power of Sleep.
Matthew Walker the Author of the book Why We Sleep put it brilliantly “Practice does not make perfect. It is practice, followed by a night of sleep, that leads to perfection.”
So if the Greatest Player of all Time (GOAT) Djokovic who won 24 Grand Slam Titles has openly said that they prioritized Sleep. It is time, we need to take a leaf from the Greats and start prioritizing Sleep.?

We all know that practise (with proper sleep) makes perfect or near perfect but in life, business and management we rarely use this wonderful tool... AB-MFH ??????
