Suprising hydrogen prices ...

At the suggestion of Nadine Hoelzinger , I've put together some numbers to create the #price of #hydrogen in each indirect heated #rotarykiln process, called #waste2hydrogen.

With the energy prices of 2021, the world looked normal to me:

How do the numbers come about?

First, the chemical energy of the respective reaction was determined. Here, the energy is supplied electrically, so there is no internal combustion, which would again significantly increase the #CO2 emissions.

Then the conversion was made to the kg of hydrogen produced. Then the raw material prices were added; converted to the kg of hydrogen. For fun, I added the CO2 certificates to the pure production costs...

Not included are the costs for hydrogen separation, compression and transport.

Now I have entered the current numbers (2022) and the values in the table shift significantly, giving an amazing picture:

The realization is:

With this, hydrogen prices can change massively depending on local conditions!

And, although the purchase of waste #plastic was assumed at 300 €/t, the hydrogen production from plastic waste is very interesting!
