Supreme Self-Control
Self-discipline is a powerful force through which we can concentrate our scattered, energy into one place, making it useful for ourselves and others.
Nature itself is highly disciplined - our lives depend on the rhythm of day and night, seasons, and their changes. This entire process is a reflection of discipline. When we plant a seed, its growth rate and time for fruit-bearing is predetermined. This is what we call Samyam - Self-Discipline.
"Sam" means proper, and "Yam" means control. Discipline resides in a life of self-control. We must strive to let our lives flow like a river between two banks or two guiding principles - Control of the senses and compassion towards living beings. Cultivate a feeling of kindness and compassion in your heart. Try to bring discipline to your life through these two practices. When you keep this mindset, you will naturally come under Self-Control.
