Supreme Court Warn PATANJALI!??

The Supreme Court has declined to accept the apologies offered by yoga guru Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved's Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna, in response to show-cause notices that questioned why they should not face contempt proceedings for allegedly violating court orders.

During the proceedings, despite Ramdev and Balkrishna's counsel presenting their apologies as "unconditional and unqualified," Justice Hima Kohli dismissed these as mere formalities made after their non-compliance was exposed in court. The court highlighted their actions as a conscious disregard of a previous commitment to refrain from making unsubstantiated claims about their products' medicinal benefits or disparaging other medical systems.

This development followed a lawsuit initiated by the Indian Medical Association against Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, with the court expressing displeasure over a specific advertisement published by the company on December 4, 2023. This was after the firm had assured on November 21, 2023, that it would cease making any contentious claims.

In affidavits submitted, both Ramdev and Balkrishna expressed regret over the advertisement's publication and vowed greater caution in the future. Ramdev specifically requested the court's forgiveness for the oversight, committing to respect the law and judicial authority henceforth. Balkrishna, similarly, pledged not to issue any provocative advertisements going forward, noting that no such advertisements had been released after February 27, 2024.
