Supreme Chastity

Supreme Chastity

As we start on the path of spirituality, we overcome anger and embrace forgiveness, but that is only the beginning. One major aspect that people often ignore—and without which success is impossible—is sexual desire. Anger is the first step, and sexual desire is the last step. It is like the game of snakes and ladders, where after a great effort to reach the top, a snake awaits near the last numbers like 98 or 99. One wrong step, and it brings you all the way back to the beginning, erasing all the hard work.

Three types of Vedas (sexual dispositions) are recognized: Purusha Veda, Stri Veda, and Napunsak Veda. These Vedas represent the different attractions people feel: Purusha Veda refers to a male's attraction toward a female, Stri Veda to a female's attraction toward a male, and Napunsak Veda to a person's attraction toward both sexes. These emotional dispositions are like fires within us, and controlling them is crucial for spiritual progress.

True Brahmacharya (rooted in Brahma-Pure Soul and Charya-To Dwell) requires complete detachment from desires, with no trace of attachment within. A person who practices Brahmacharya remains immersed in their pure soul, walking the path of truth and purity. The journey of the soul is a long one, and practicing the ten virtues is just the beginning. The ultimate goal is to become one with the pure soul, free of illusions.
