Supporting Your Start-Up Through A Pandemic

Supporting Your Start-Up Through A Pandemic

Given everything that’s been written in the media in recent weeks, someone is probably regretting missing out on the opportunity to patent the words ‘amidst,’ ‘unprecedented’ and ‘challenging.’ A huge business opportunity like that could be right around the corner, despite all the doom and gloom that floods through our social media feeds, and you don’t want to let it slip through your fingers. Fortunately, you can take advantage of gaps in the market from the comfort of your living room. Going out and grabbing opportunities is not required. All you need is a great business idea, a solid plan, and a great team supporting you. Here’s how to build a growing business out of the current uncertainty.

How To Cope With Being Made Redundant

Losing your job is one of the worst parts of life. You’ve given your all to help someone grow their business, only to be left with a P45 and a stack of unpaid bills for your troubles. Feeling upset is a natural and highly understandable reaction to everything that you’re going through when you get that news. After being made redundant I was so upset that I didn’t want to speak to life for at least a week. But then I realised something: this was a huge opportunity. It was an opportunity to set up the business that I’d wanted to start for ages.

Redundancy is a horrible word. Just because one person doesn’t need your services anymore, doesn’t mean that you can’t achieve great things elsewhere.

Although losing your job is an emotional and highly stressful experience, it gives you the chance to begin a completely new adventure. Never lose sight of that.

Finding The Right Team

The best support team that you will ever have is your family. My husband and family were amazingly supportive and believed in me when others didn’t. Their backing gave me the push that I needed to embark on my entrepreneurial journey.

The next aspect of turning your start-up dream into a reality is building a team within your business who will help you to offer your customers the best possible service. At the start, you probably won’t have a lot of money to pay people with (or any at all). For that reason, you need your first employees to be completely invested in your business and willing to put the hours in to help it grow. Then you’ll all be able to profit when money starts coming into your company bank account. As much as everyone has their individual areas of expertise, start-ups often require everyone involve to chip in and help wherever they can to help the business to move forwards.

Getting Support

Anyone who makes it look like as if they became successful without anyone else’s support is completely glossing over the first 5-10 years of their enterprise’s history. You need support from talented people who are willing to put in the time to help you succeed. From mentors to external agencies and contractors, everyone you work with needs to be committed to growing your business and making sure that everyone knows how great you are. Sometimes if you’ve had a bad day, you also just need someone to talk to who understands what it’s like to run a business and gets where you’re coming from.

I’m happy to be that person on the end of the phone who can pick you up when you’re feeling down and give you some crucial tips as you build your business. I would also be more than happy to introduce to my excellent bank manager, amazing accountant and superb web design agency….

If you think I might be able to give you some support and advice as you build your business, please call me on 07738 279413 or email [email protected].
