Supporting Women-Owned Businesses

Supporting Women-Owned Businesses

Did you know that in 2023 women still make 82 cents for every dollar a man earns? We have to do better! For years it has been difficult for women to earn their spot in the professional space. As every woman in the workplace knows, it isn't easy, and it especially is not easy to start a company and keep pushing despite the setbacks put in our way. This is why I have made it a priority of mine to support other women owned businesses and to educate people on the amazing women that run them! Every Wednesday I feature a woman-owned business and highlight what makes them so special. You can see my videos on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.?

Historically women have had many setbacks in their path to professional success. I have never seen a man have “ get back in the kitchen” comments on their social media posts about how they are running a successful business. However far we may come, there are still people that feel the need to make these comments, and act as if we are in the 1950’s. Yes, I may spend time in the kitchen to make meals for my kids, but that does not mean that women should stop pursuing their dreams. It is less of a “this or that” and more like a “hold my drink and watch me.” I have found that because of the expectations put on women, we have become phenomenal multitaskers, and amazing go-getters.

We are most definitely in a period of change though. Did you know that 42% of US businesses are women owned. It has also been found that women are 3% more likely to start a company than men are, I like to think that is the go-getter in them. As the role of women in our society has begun to shift, it is amazing to watch and see all the? things women have, and continue to do.I feel that it is so important for us to always stop and acknowledge the truly incredible women out there, to support them in what they are doing, as well as inspiring other women throughout generations that they can do it too!
