Supporting the Up and Comers
The Interior Design Industry has a few larger players. But it also has countless more smaller ones. These rapidly growing companies are led by the original visionary whose designs and artisan quality and craftmanship proves more than enough to build a successful business around. Diving deeper in to the five decades of history at Ernest Gaspard with those that lived them, the best stories are those of the fledgling new start-up that became one of the industry powerhouses we know today. I love those stories most. So, without further ado, I wanted to highlight some of the up and comers that we are excited to be partnering with today - and you would be better off getting to know them better yourself.
Madcap Cottage (madcapcottage.com). Madcap is mad cool. And hella fun. And wicked smart. (said my cousin from Booooooston). Although the founders, John and Jason, started their business in New York, they have hit their stride these last few years, living in High Point, North Carolina, surrounded by the heart of the furniture business and a steady stream of visitors in to their ‘madcapped’ (used here as an adjective) home. I had the pleasure of visiting their home for a nice homemade meal with John and Jason. Being greeted at the door with multiple English bulldogs, the tour of their home did not disappoint. Fun prints and patterns everywhere. Layer upon layer of fun. Wallpapered ceilings. Patterns painted on the hardwood floors. Boring? Definitely not. If you are looking for a fun vibe and some truly original thinking in your next design project, give Madcap Cottage a try. I promise you will keep coming back for more.
Heirloom Lighting (heirloomlighting.net). Cesar and his team of lighting artists are forging new frontiers in lighting with old world artistry. And each of the lights they produce is beauty with an LED bulb inside. Cesar had a long career in building lighting fixtures by hand at a large player, and decided to forge his own path. Be his own boss and share the beauty of this creations with the world. We are glad he and his family did. You will be better off with one of these custom designed, made by hand beauties in your repertoire of breathtaking showstoppers.
Charlotte Gaisford (charlottegaisford.co.uk). Charlotte is our friend across the pond. Working from a farmhouse in rural Great Britain, her style and patterns are anything but ordinary. Her wallpapers and fabrics are fresh and fun. Think Prince Harry as a young child, before things got complicated with him and the rest of the royals. And, as wallpapers continue to make their comeback, keep our British friend Charlotte in mind; oh, and she makes plenty of beautiful fabrics as well!
?As the years go by and the names mentioned above take their place among top brands and companies in our business like Quadrille and Nancy Corzine, among others, wouldn’t you like to say you found them first? It was you who introduced these great designs, made by even more wonderful individuals, to your friends and inner circle?
