Supporting Progress: IMO-WISTA Women in Maritime Survey 2024

We are pleased to share information about an important industry initiative that shapes the future of maritime diversity. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA International) have launched their second global Women in Maritime Survey for 2024.

About the Survey

This triennial survey serves as a vital tool for:

• Gathering baseline data on women’s participation in maritime and ocean-related fields
• Supporting implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goals
• Informing policies that promote inclusive practices in the maritime sector

Timeline

• Survey Period: Now through December 31, 2024
• Final Report: Expected May 2025

Two Ways to Participate

1. Industry Survey

• Open to: Companies, organizations, and maritime training institutions
• Completed by: HR departments or personnel managers
• Time needed: Approximately 20-30 minutes
• One submission per organization

2. IMO Member State Survey

• For government maritime entities
• Requires registered Focal Point (deadline: December 13, 2024)
• Accessed through dedicated channels
