Supporting Global SDG Projects

The Impact Accelerator was born from the desire to want to influence more good, more positive outcomes than we could possibly have alone.

As such, our mission is to support and nurture a community of startup founders who aspire to make our world a better place one way or another. We ask our cohort to demonstrate how they plan to impact lives, biodiversity or the planet by aligning their work to the UN SDGs.

The accelerator is part of ASquared | B Corp? | Digital Product Agency , which is on its own BCorp journey and has its own novel way to influence and measure impact. As such, it's part of our culture to continually look for ways to exercise our resources to do more good, and strive to be a force for good in everything we do.

More than a £50,000 Opportunity to Do Good

In July 2023, we'll be hosting a public Funding Show where one of our cohort will secure a £50,000 investment from ASquared to further their dream and accelerate their impact.

The event is going to be a lot of fun, with a truly inspirational TEDx speaker, and a "Britain's Got Talent" twist where you, the public get to vote on which founding team are awarded the investment.

That in itself will be a great way to amplify impact, but it's not enough.

Working with B1G1 we're also contributing 50% of our ticket revenues to create direct SDG impact across the globe, where it's needed the most.

With literally 1,000s of truly worthy causes all over the planet, aligned with all 17 of the SDGs, how did we choose which ones to support?

Which SDGs?

Purpose is a personal thing. Everyone has their own story or personal reasons for being passionate about the things they care about, so we asked the team to vote on which SDGs they felt most strongly about.

The top 3 were:

  • SDG 3: Good health and well-being
  • SDG 5: Gender equality
  • SDG 13: Climate Action

As expected, many of the team went for other SDGs, too.

We then looked through the extensive catalogue of projects in B1G1 to find projects that focused primarily on these SDGs, but where possible also touched on other aspects that the team cared about.

Which Projects?

We whittled the list down to these three projects, that span eight of the UN SDGs from the USA to Indonesia and the Philippines.

Provide Vocational Training To Women

The large sector of private education in the Philippines restricts girls from working-class backgrounds from accessing higher education and decent employment. This project provides vocational training in the hospitality sector, giving young women the chance to become financially independent.?

Just $64 will provide support for one year of training.

Reduce Carbon Emission By Eliminating Food Waste

Americans waste 33 million tons of food every year while 1 in 7 people remain food insecure. This wasted food ends up in landfills, where it does not get to aerate and instead emits methane gases thirty times worse for the environment than carbon dioxide. By rescuing excess food from ending up in landfills, each pound of food rescued translates to avoiding 0.375 lbs of carbon emission and helps feeds the hungry population instead.

Each contribution of $6.55 will help prevent 1kg of CO2 emission, while also helping feed someone who's hungry.
