Supporting employees better - your chance to help
Time is getting short to respond to the Government's "Support with employee health and disability" consultation which closes on 30 December.
Swiss Re agrees with Katharine Moxham and Group Risk Development (GRiD) that there is too great a focus on occupational health in the consultation (see below), with no mention of the support which can be provided?through wider and important services such as Employee Assistance Programmes and vocational rehabilitation.
Our response to the consultation stresses the importance of these and, in particular, vocational rehabilitation support which is usually but not exclusively available within insured sick pay arrangements.?
The wider services can be so beneficial to employers and line managers. Consequently, it's important that the Government highlights them to raise awareness of the important role that these can all bring in the workplace. Including this in an all-embracing "occupational health" definition doesn't do justice to the breadth of what's available and that needs improving. Perhaps something like Return to Work Services would be better and avoid unnecessary confusion.
It only takes a few minutes to complete the online response form. I'd urge others to take the time to do the same.

2 年Ron Wheatcroft thanks for raising the important issue of the need for Vocational Rehabilitation. We have submitted a response but it would be great for as many people as possible who know just how important vocational rehabilitation is to respond to this survey. #vocationalrehabilitation Vocational Rehabilitation Association
