We have all gotten an email (or several), or mailings for end of year giving at this time of year. Some ask for their organization, school, relative, friend. For me personally, it can be most overwhelming at times.
But here's the thing, I believe if you want to really make an impact: GET INVOLVED. 7 years ago, if you would have approached me and asked me to run in a Half-Marathon for charity, I would have laughed in your face and said "yeah, not happening, let me know who to make the check out to". But then something incredible happened....I flew down to Miami to watch my friend run in the Miami Marathon in my daughters memory (and his daughters Bat-Mitzvah). I was simply overwhelmed with the amount of charity runners I met over the weekend, and meeting parents like myself who have had kids with cancer and other life threatening illnesses and their tales of survival in the worst of times. This inspired me so much.
I am about to embark on my 6th Half Marathon run in my daughters memory with Team Lifeline on January 28,2018 having lost 40+ lbs to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and give back to the Chai Lifeline charity organization and help raise a goal of $18,000. They assist over 5,000 families with volunteers to come and visit the sick, to food for the families brought daily to the hospital, to a very special summer camp called Camp Simcha (simcha means "joy" in Hebrew where kids can have a fun-filled 2 weeks forgetting about illness for a while.
I am sharing this with you because as a bereaved parent and a volunteer for this incredible organization, I feel very connected to the cause for all they did for me and my family, and continue to do for others.
Please partner with me in helping raise much needed funds to help families in need, and give them hope. Click the link below to donate! Your donation is tax-deductible. May you all have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2018! Cheers!
